The Devil - 15
Fool stood astride with her hands on her hips,
a scowl on her face and a pursed pair of lips.
'You should be ashamed you great naughty goat.
You tempt then enslave, you wily old stoat.
Your darkness corrupts the purest of souls,
I wouldn't touch you with the longest of poles.'
The Devil rolled his big brown eyes and gave the weariest of sighs.
'Do you know how hard it is, misunderstood on such a scale?'
He yawned as flames around him hissed, and twitched his little pointed tail.
'Look closer fool at the shackles they wear,
they are loose and unlocked...is this not fair?
I may attempt seduction with my thousand glittering things,
but many choose their freedom still and walk upon my wings.
I weep when one falls deep for me, I am part angel don't you know?
I also soar to greater heights when one climbs high who once was low.'
A solitary shining tear slid down the devils face,
and in its splintered surface, fool saw a shard of grace.
Atop the burning pedestal it landed with a splash,
and turned into a butterfly in one sweet shimmering flash.
